Nearly 200 Still Lack Power Wednesday after Storm Socks Lake Minnetonka

Xcel Energy estimates for many in Mound and Orono it could be 11 p.m. Wednesday before electrical service returns.

Neary 200 customers in Lake Minnetonka cities don't have electricity Wednesday morning after a powerful summer storm swept through the Twin Cities Tuesday night, according to Xcel Energy's online outage map.

More than 2,500 customers in six Lake Minnetonka cities were in the dark immediately after the storm Tuesday, Xcel's map showed.

At 8 a.m. Wednesday, the map showed 99 Mound and Orono customers who lost power at 10 p.m. Tuesday can expect it back by 11 p.m. Wednesday. For another 52 Mound and Minnetrista customers that lost service at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, the estimated time of restoration is 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. And there are more than 30 scattered outages at individual Lake Minnetonka addresses, most showing the 11 p.m. Wednesday time for the juice to flow again.

Xcel said about 50,000 customers lost power from the storm at some point, according to Minnesota Public Radio, with about 10,000 remaining without service early Wednesday.
