Lake Minnetonka Communities See More Widespread Power Outages
Thousands of people are without power following Friday evening's storms.
For the second time in less than 24 hours, power outages struck a swathe of Lake Minnetonka neighborhoods.
Xcel Energy reported that thousands of people in the Minnetonka area lost power following the high winds, heavy rain and hail Friday evening.
The utility company's outage map showed three major concentrations of outages in the area:
- 1,287 customers in Orono, Crystal Bay, Long Lake and Wayzata lost power at 7:38 p.m. Power is expected to be restored by noon Monday.
- 844 customers in Shorewood and Minnetonka remain without power from 6:15 a.m. Friday. Their power is expected to be restored by noon Monday.
- 2,336 customers in Mound, Shorewood, Minnetrista and Spring Park lost power at 7:29 p.m. Power is expected to be restored by noon Monday.
