Last Call to Reserve a Spot for Wayzata Chamber's Person of the Year Luncheon

Next week's luncheon at the Wayzata Country Club will honor Mark Scheidhauer as the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce's 'Person of the Year.'

The Wayzata Chamber of Commerce is asking anyone who would like to attend next week's Person of the Year Luncheon at the Wayzata Country Club and has not yet signed up to do so by the end of business on Friday. Contact Nicole at 952.473.9595 to reserve your seat. This year's luncheon takes place from 12-1:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non members. Wayzata Chamber Launches 'Wayzata Women in Business' Networking Group

Chamber members gather with peers at Wayzata Country Club to inspire, connect and empower.

The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of a new networking group. Wayzata Women in Business (WWB) is a division of the Chamber and exists for all members who are interested in networking, relationship building and growing professionally and personally. The mission is to inspire and empower members through mentoring, networking, sharing experiences and professional development. Wayzata Women in Business plans to host quarterly events that foster a local avenue for women in business to connect with peers, encourage one another and promote success. Wayzata Chamber of Commerce Names Mark Scheidhauer 'Person of the Year'

The Chamber will be holding a luncheon in Scheidhauer's honor on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Wayzata Country Club.

Mark Scheidhauer has been named the 2012 Person of the Year by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce. The Person of the Year award is presented each year to a chamber member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Considerations for the Person of the Year award include being a member of the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce, an active participant and supporter of Chamber events and a contributor to the economic, civic, commercial and educational interests of the Wayzata area.  Scheidhauer is a native of Minnesota. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has been in the banking industry for the last 33 years, 28 of which have been in Wayzata at Wells Fargo. by Ellen Timmerman-Borer, Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chair After years of remarkable service, Peggy Douglas has decided to retire from her position at the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce.  Peggy has served almost 17 years, with 14 of them as chamber president. Beginning in 2013, she will be taking time to travel, enjoy family and friends and just relax. Peggy first served as the chamber president from 1992 to 1999 when she was involved in expanding the membership, increasing staff, introducing technology to chamber operations and making each event a profit center.  She returned in 2006 to face a very challenging time when the chamber needed solid leadership. Twin Cities River Rats Wow Crowds During Lake Minnetonka Show

Information provided by the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce The Twin Cities River Rats Waterski Show Team was in Wayzata over the weekend for a performance during the city's James J. Hill Days Celebration. The Twin Cities River Rats are a 100 percent volunteer organization. They plan, practice, perform waterski shows at their home site near downtown Minneapolis and at various other locations throughout the Midwest.  Team members participate in all aspects of the show, from skiing to boat driving, announcing and even rolling tapes.  They currently have over 70 members. Why Wayzata's 2012 Night to Unite Luncheon Will be a Somber Occasion

The public is invited, and space is limited. Reservations can be made by contacting the Wayzata Chamber offices.

The Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition, in partnership with the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce and the Wayzata Rotary Club, will be hosting this year's annual Night to Unite Luncheon.  This year’s event will honor the memory of Sgt. James Anderson of the Wayzata Police Department, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in August, 1982.  Hear the actual 911 calls, police dispatch recordings and the story told by the first three officers to arrive on the scene.  August marks the 30-year anniversary of one of Wayzata’s darkest days. Join public safety officials from around the region in honoring Sgt. Anderson’s memory.  This promises to be a program to remember.  The public is invited, and space is limited. Bloom Portraits Cuts Ribbon on Wayzata Location

Lake Minnetonka native opens Bloom Portraits' first Minnesota location last week.

Colorado-based Bloom Portraits opened its first Minnesota studio last week. Located on Barry Street in downtown Wayzata, Bloom provides a fresh look to children’s photography for an affordable price. The grand opening included a ribbon cutting with the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce and a piñata smash for the kids.   Mound native and Bloom owner, David Schmidt, received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico. In 2005 he moved to Denver’s Highland neighborhood where he started 211 Photography. In 2009, David saw the need to give children’s portraits a fresh feel and opened Bloom’s flagship studio in Denver. The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce's annual "Chilly Open" drew a throng of beach goers to Wayzata Bay over the weekend. Minnesota Vikings lineman Steve Hutchinson, former Minnesota Twin Ron Coomer and Wayzata Mayor Ken Wilcox served as judges for the highly sought after "best chili" awards.
