Thursday luncheon is open to the public and will feature the Gophers' head football coach as guest speaker.
On Thursday May 23, the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a luncheon at the Wayzata Country Club featuring Jerry Kill, head football coach for the Minnesota Gophers. The luncheon begins at noon and is expected to wrap up by 1:30 p.m. Jerry Kill was named head coach of the University of Minnesota football program on December 7, 2010. The Gophers were 3-9 in Kill's first season at the helm in Minnesota. The Gophers finished the 2011 season on a positive note, retaining Floyd of Rosedale with a rivalry game victory over Big Ten foe Iowa and a season-ending Big Ten win over Illinois. Information provided by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce The Met Council has begun work on Phase 2—Grove Lane to Broadway Avenue—of the forcemain project to include restoration of streets, sidewalks, and streetscape. The new forcemain has been installed across Lake Street, up to the Broadway intersection. The contractor will now be filling the pipe with water and performing a pressure test on the entire pipeline between the marina and Broadway Avenue. The contractor will be working to open the Lake Street and Broadway Avenue intersection to through traffic as soon as the pressure test has passed. A frozen Lake Minnetonka served as a golf course for Saturday's 29th Annual Chilly Open on Wayzata Bay.
More than 900 golfers and about 1,000 spectators took to the frozen waters of Lake Minnetonka over the weekend for the 29th Annual Wayzata Chilly Open. Hosted by the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce, the 2013 Chilly Open featured a "the 80s are back" theme. Golfers wearing zany gear had a chance to navigate one of two nine-hole courses using clubs, hockey sticks or any other contraption they can to sink a tennis ball on Wayzata Bay. After hitting the frozen links, golfers warmed up with some of the best chilli in Minnesota. Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway joined Wayzata Mayor Ken Willcox to judge the "best of" chilli contest. The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the president position. With over 400 members, the president is the chief executive officer responsible for implementation of policies and procedures. Current Wayzata Chamber of Commerce President Peggy Douglas announced her retirement back in September. Douglas has served the Wayzata chamber for almost 17 years, with 14 of them as chamber president. Beginning in 2013, she will be taking time to travel, enjoy family and friends and just relax.
