Winter Storm Warning: 'Rare May Snow Storm' Could Drop 6–9 Inches of Snow on Lake Minnetonka

The warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday. Look out for heavy snow falling as fast as 1–2 inches per hour.

Happy May Day. Now that we've taken care of that, there's a new Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service for the Lake Minnetonka area promising "heavy snow"—like as many as 9 inches. We're likely to set a record for the most snow we've ever had in the month of May, according to WCCO-AM. 'Heavy snow' of 1–2 inches per hour warning continues through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

April's Fool: Another Half Foot of Snow Expected in Lake Minnetonka Area

The National Weather Service in Chanahssen has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of East and Central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. The storm will hit Thursday night into Friday morning.

At this point, we may all be April's fools. The second major snowfall in a little more than a week is expected to slam into the Twin Cities area Thursday night and drop up to six inches of fresh snow on the Lake Minnetonka area by Friday morning, marking the second straight Friday residents here will wake up to white.  While last Thursday's snow totals came in under forecasted amounts, this storm is packing some moisture with it, and the Twin Cities area should see snow beginning Thursday night and extending into Friday.  That should create yet another messy, miserable commute for Friday morning as well. Winter Storm Warning Starts at Midnight Saturday for Lake Minnetonka

Rain, sleet, snow and high winds are possible Sunday and Monday. The area could receive between four and eight inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service upgraded the watch to a warning. "A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or occurring," according to a weather statement. "Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible."
