How far can $10 stretch? Further than you may think.
Kids grow up so quickly and if you're a parent you know all too well how many car seats small children can go through in their young years. But what is the responsible, earth-savvy parent going to do with a car seat too small, expired or damaged? The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) created a solution for safely and securely recycling child car seats. A new program called REseat will securely recycle all old, expired, damaged or outgrown child safety seats. This program employs local individuals with disabilities and car seats are collected year round at several locations in Minnesota as well as at collection events. Wayzata will host a special collection event this Sunday, Dec. 11, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Wintergreen …

Ten years ago Sunday, Gordon “Gordy” Aamoth Jr. made a phone call to his mother from the 104th floor of the World Trade Center’s south tower. An investment banker at Sandler O’Neill, the 32-year-old had flown from Minnesota to the firm’s New York headquarters after closing his first major merger deal. After the north tower was hit by a hijacked plane, he called his mother and told her “she shouldn’t worry because it was the other tower that had been hit and she would see it on TV.” This story was told Sunday afternoon to about 150 attendees of James J. Hill Days by Aamoth’s father, Gordon Sr., in his first public remarks since his son died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “When we got up this morning,” he said, the sky “was just as clear as …

Minnesota is home to one of the largest high school rugby leagues in the nation. Orono and Wayzata are among the best.
The game was a tough one. Orono and Wayzata were neck and neck for the majority of last Wednesday's rugby match, with neither team making much of an impact on the scoreboard. Orono had the majority of the possession throughout the game, although they couldn't turn that into points. It looked like Orono had squeezed a narrow victory at the end with a try that came from a referee's decision. All Orono had to do was hold onto those points. But in the final seconds Wayzata found a gap and broke through to score a try and a successful kick afterward. Seconds after Wayzata scored the whistle was blown and it was game over. A very dramatic end to the match that would have placed Orono top of the league standings. Final Score: Wayzata 14 …

Have a fuel station we missed or a correction to one included in this list? Feel free to e-mail the author and submit revisions.
