Three of the four open seats for this year's Wayzata School Board elections will be filled by incumbents while one will be a new person to the board, but not to working with the district.
Last night's election results was a "wow" moment for Cheryl Polzin of Plymouth. She is the newest person to join the Wayzata School Board. "This is my first time running," Polzin said. "I was just holding my breath until all the precincts were reported in." Polzin came in second for total number of votes, according to the unofficial board election results from the Secretary of State's website. The three incumbents, Linda Cohen, Jay Hesby and Carter Peterson join Polzin for the next four years on the board starting in 2012. The Wayzata School Board has four open seats with seven people vying for them. Need to catch up on the candidates, where to vote and more?
Election Day is upon us. Remember to get out and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 8. There are seven Wayzata School Board candidates vying for four open seats. Board members get $360 a month, and the board chair receives $420 a month. Board chair Patricia Gleason is not running for re-election. Three of the seven are incumbents, Linda Cohen, Jay Hesby and Carter Peterson. The other candidates are: Gregory Baufield of Plymouth, Joan Curtiss of Wayzata, Cheryl Polzin of Plymouth and Nick Roehl of Plymouth. Four seats are open on the Wayzata School Board and seven have filed by the Aug. 16 deadline. They now have until the end of the work day Thursday, Aug. 18, to withdraw from the election.
Seven have filed for the four open seats on the Wayzata School Board. Three of the seven are incumbents, Linda Cohen, Jay Hesby and Carter Peterson. The other candidates are: Gregory Baufield of Plymouth, Joan Curtiss of Wayzata, Cheryl Polzin of Plymouth and Nick Roehl of Plymouth. Curtiss, Polzin and Roehl have not run for this office before. Baufield is a former School Board member, but did not run two years ago. Wayzata School Board Chair Patricia Gleason said she would not run for reelection. Filing ended Aug. 16. Those who filed have until 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, to withdraw from the election. General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. The four spots are each a four-year term.
