The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the president position. With over 400 members, the president is the chief executive officer responsible for implementation of policies and procedures. Current Wayzata Chamber of Commerce President Peggy Douglas announced her retirement back in September. Douglas has served the Wayzata chamber for almost 17 years, with 14 of them as chamber president. Beginning in 2013, she will be taking time to travel, enjoy family and friends and just relax. The president is responsible for planning, fiscal management, member and community relations, operations, marketing and government affairs. The applicant must be enthusiastic and creative. Peggy has served almost 17 years, with 14 of them as chamber president. Beginning in 2013, she will be taking time to travel, enjoy family and friends and just relax. Peggy first served as the chamber president from 1992 to 1999 when she was involved in expanding the membership, increasing staff, introducing technology to chamber operations and making each event a profit center. Golden shovels in hand, Presbyterian Homes celebrated the official groundbreaking of the long-awaited Folkestone senior living community this week. The development is part of The Promenade of Wayzata, a mixed-use project that includes 32,000 square feet of retail, located on the 14.5-acre site of the former Wayzata Bay Center. The celebration included local government and business leaders alongside the project development team, Presbyterian Homes staff and future residents. “This project is a very big deal because it is part of an effort to revitalize downtown Wayzata,” Wayzata Mayor Ken Wilcox said during an address to about 200 guests.
