Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club Hosts Winter Extravaganza

Skaters from the region will entertain the audience with a four-hour exhibition.

Head to the Minnetonka Ice Arena on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. to enjoy a free figure skating exhibition, do some holiday shopping and make a difference by helping local children and families-in-need of warm winter clothing.   The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club (LMFSC) presents the 10th annual Winter Extravaganza which includes performances by individual and synchronized skating performances by award-winning, state and nationally-recognized competitors. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be served. In addition to the show, attendees are welcome to participate in the “Chuck-a-Puck” fundraiser and shop the silent auction with tickets to the Minnesota Wild, Guthrie Theatre and Metropolitan Ballet and items from local …

Tonight: Figure Skating Club Hosts Skate-A-Thon

Skaters will take 100 laps of the arena to raise funds for the club's synchronized skating teams, the Windjammers.

The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club (LMFSC) is hosting a Skate-A-Thon tonight (Friday, Sept. 21) from 6-7 p.m. at the Minnetonka Ice Arena. The event will raise funds for the synchronized skating teams, the LMFSC Windjammers.  Skaters, grouped in teams of two, will skate 100 laps during the event with participants skating ten laps at a time until their goal has been met. Skaters must raise a minimum of $25 to participate in the event with pledges based on a per lap basis or as a total dollar amount with pledges being solicited now through Friday night.

Lake Minnetonka Figure Skater Headed to Junior U.S. Championships

Wayzata's Coco Kaminski is headed to Michigan next month.

It’s not often that you hear of a high school freshman wanting to go to East Lansing, MI, but that is exactly where Coco Kaminski determined she wanted to go about a year ago. Over the past 12 months, Kaminski has been training hard and has earned a chance to compete with 41 other top intermediate ladies in the 2012 Junior U.S. Figure Skating Championships, taking place this year Dec. 10-14. Kaminski, who lives in Wayzata and goes to The Blake School, captured 4th place in intermediate ladies at the 2012 Upper Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships in October. She finished 7th in the short program and 3rd in the long program. At Junior Nationals, Kaminski will skate her long program in the preliminary round with sights on being …
