State Issues Air Pollution Health Advisory for Monday

Winds carrying wildfire smoke, coupled with temperatures in the 90s and clear skies, prompt Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to issue advisory.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air pollution health advisory due to forecasted increases in ozone pollution for the Twin Cities metropolitan area effective from noon until midnight on Monday, July 2.  At-risk Populations:  Ozone is expected to near a level that is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. Those sensitive to ozone include people with preexisting respiratory conditions, the elderly, children and individuals who participate in outdoor activities requiring extended or heavy exertion. These individuals are encouraged to postpone or reduce vigorous outdoor activity, or schedule outdoor activity in the morning, when ozone levels are lower. UPDATED: Air Pollution Health Advisory Upgraded to Alert

Elevated ozone levels are expected through Wednesday night.

Last Update: 4 p.m. on June 27, 2012 After issuing an air pollution health advisory Tuesday afternoon, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has upgraded the advisory to an alert, which is in effect for the area from 3 p.m. to midnight Wednesday. According to a MPCA release, hourly ozone concentrations are expected to reach a level considered unhealthy for "sensitive groups" in the Twin Cities early this evening. Advisory in effect through Saturday and may be extended into Sunday.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air pollution health advisory due to elevated levels of ozone for the southern two-thirds of Minnesota effective from 1pm through Midnight today Saturday, June 9th.  At-risk Populations: Ozone is expected to near or reach a level that is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
