Photos: Multiple Fire Departments Respond to Corcoran Fire

The Maple Grove, Plymouth, Long Lake, Hamel, Loretto, Rogers, Hanover and Maple Plain Fire Departments assisted in putting out the fire.

Several area fire departments assisted with a building fire in nearby Corcoran Tuesday morning. Corcoran police received a report of a structure fire around 7:09 a.m. April 9 on the 20000 block of 75th Avenue North. All individuals were evacuated from the building, according to the Corcoran Police Department. The Rogers, Hanover, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Long Lake, Maple Plain, Hamel and Loretto Fire Departments responded to assist in extinguishing the fire, according to the Corcoran Police Department. Multiple Departments Battle Thursday Fire in Tonka Bay

Fire on Crabapple Lane began in the garage. Crews had the blaze under control by about 1:45.

Fire departments from Excelsior and Long Lake responded to a structure fire in Tonka Bay around 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The fire on Crabapple Drive reportedly started in the garage, and fire fighters had the blaze under control in less than 20 minutes.

Saturday Evening Fire Damages Tonka Bay Home

Both the Excelsior Fire District and the Long Lake Fire Department responded to Saturday fire in Tonka Bay.

Fire started in the garage of a Tonka Bay home about 5 p.m. Saturday evening.

FBI Joins Search for Squad Car Arsonist; New Reward Offered

Three Orono squad cars sustained serious damage after an arsonist struck late last week.

At 2:52 a.m. on Sept. 14 an Orono police officer pulled into the police squad lot and found two squad cars fully engulfed in flames.  The Long Lake Fire Department responded and quickly put out the flames.   The Minneapolis Division of the FBI and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Orono Police Department with the investigation. A reward of up to $4,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person or persons responsible for this arson. The two Orono Police squads had extensive damage and a third had minor damage. Damage estimates are approximately $100,000. Each squad contained video cameras, computers, radio equipment, rifles, emergency lighting, first aid equipment and other items …

All OK After Truck Slams into House Thursday Morning

The incident occurred around 9 a.m., and a building inspector cleared the structure as safe to occupy.

The Long Lake Fire Department responded to a property near the intersection of Lyric Avenue and Livingston Avenue in Navarre this morning after receiving reports of a truck running into a building. Long Lake Fire Chief James Van Eyll said it appears the truck either slipped out of gear or did not have its parking brake engaged. "The driver was there to do some mowing, got out his mower from the enclosed trailer and was mowing away when the truck started going down the embankment there," Van Eyll said. While nobody was hurt, Chief Van Eyll said a woman was sleeping in a bedroom very close to the impact site. Fire Guts Orono House

The unoccupied home was fully involved Friday afternoon when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were on the scene Friday afternoon of a house fire in Orono.  According to initial reports, the home at 3432 Livingston Ave. was unoccupied, so no one was around when the structure began to burn. There was significant damage to the structure inside and out. No injuries were reported. Long Lake and Excelsior fire departments were on the scene around around 3:30 p.m. Friday, battling the blaze in 88-degree heat.

Divers Recover Body of Drowning Victim from Lake Minnetonka

Just over 24 hours after Kennedy Maddox disappeared under the water near Big Island, divers recovered his body Wednesday evening.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of a drowning victim from Lake Minnetonka.   The victim, a 20-year-old man from Minnetonka identified by friends and family as Kennedy Maddox, had been missing since 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26.   Witnesses reported that the victim had jumped off of a boat into the lake to swim. He began to struggle and never resurfaced. Four other people who were on the boat, were unable to locate him. The group was on a 20-foot pleasure craft off the south end of Big Island at the time. The Sheriff’s Office has been conducting an ongoing search since responding to the incident yesterday. Wednesday Morning Fire Scorches Northern Lake Minnetonka Home

Fire broke out just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A faulty air conditioning unit is being blamed for causing a fire Wednesday morning near the Spring Park and Orono border. Long Lake Fire Chief James Van Eyll said police first arrived at the home on Minnie Avenue near the southern shores of North Arm Bay around 9:45 a.m. and found the northern side of the residence on fire. Engines from both Long Lake and Maple Plain quickly extinguished the blaze, but the home's exterior sustained significant damage. Moderate water and smoke damage was also reported on both levels. No injuries to persons or pets were reported.

Deephaven Man OK After Going Through the Ice

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is urging people to use caution on all bodies of water due to thin ice and open water.

A Deephaven man piloting an ice boat went into the water Saturday near Big Island after breaking through thin ice, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. He was one of three individuals who broke through the ice on Hennepin County lakes on the final day of 2011. The Excelsior Fire Department, Wayzata Fire Department, Long Lake Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to the Lake Minnetonka incident. The ice boat operator was an adult male from Deephaven and was not injured after making it to shore one his own.   Also on Saturday, two men broke through the ice on Lake Riley in Eden Prairie.
