Storm Aftermath: Tuesday Afternoon Commute Will Be Slow—Very Slow

At minimum, State Patrol say commuters should plan on doubling their normal drive times.

Roads throughout the area are improving, but drivers will find drastically reduced speeds on their way home Tuesday afternoon. Lieutenent Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol told Patch drivers should plan on doubling their normal commute times and "expect icy patches and slippery spots." Delays are currently being reported on multiple roads in the west Metro, including most interstate arteries. Some of the slowest traffic is being reported on Hwy. 169 between Hopkins and Maple Grove. Interstate 94 is also seeing significant speed reduction and traffic, particularly from Maple Grove all the way east to Roseville. The Tuesday …

Snow Blankets Lake Minnetonka; Share Your Photos on Patch!

A winter storm warning remains in effect for the Lake Minnetonka area until midnight. A foot or more is possible, and travel is not being recommended unless absolutely necessary.

A foot or more of fresh snow is possible in the Lake Minetonka area today. The season's first significant snowstorm of the season should finish its pass through the Metro area around midnight, giving street crews the overnight hours to prepare roads for the Monday morning commute. No school's have announced delays or cancellations, but Lake Minnetoka Patch will post updates if and when they are released. A winter storm warning remains in effect until midnight Sunday, Dec. 9, for the Lake Minnetonka area and much of Minnesota.
