The Orono Police Department issued 28 citations between April 28 and May 5—including six for speeding, eight for both no insurance and assorted moving violations and two for underage consumption of alcohol.

May 5 A citation for underage consumption of alcohol was issued just after 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Shadywood Road and West Lafayette Road. A Long Lake woman is accused of breaking into a Hopkins home and destroying pictures inside. Nothing was stolen.
A Long Lake woman is accused of breaking into a Hopkins home and destroying pictures of a woman who had dated the same man as her, according to court documents released Tuesday. Several witness told police that they saw a woman drive up to the 16th Avenue North home April 27 in a black SUV, break a window with a hammer, kick down a door and enter the residence, Detective Renee Meuwissen wrote in the criminal complaint. When officers went inside, they found that several picture frames had been broken and pictures were torn up on the kitchen table. Two 20-year-old males from Plymouth were cited April 21 after police stopped their vehicle on the 200 block of Central Avenue. Officers could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and cited one man with possession of a small amount of marijuana and the other for possession of paraphernalia. A Cadillac Escalade valued at $22,000 was stolen from the Auto Center Bargain Lot sometime between April 17 and April 20. The vehicle was recovered April 21 in Minneapolis with its hood and engine missing. A 2007 GMC Yukon Denali was stolen from the Auto Center Bargain Lot between April 17 and April 19. The Hennepin County Crime lab lifted fingerprints from the scene of an attempted burglary and positively matched them to an Elk River man.
Police are searching for a 33-year-old man from Elk River suspected of burglarizing a Wayzata apartment complex. An active arrest warrant has been issued for Christopher Wall after officers were unable to locate him at his only known address, according to the criminal complaint filed this week and signed by Investigator Mike Murphy of the Wayzata Police Department. Wayzata police were first dispatched to the Gleason Lake apartment complex at 4 a.m. back on May 25 of 2012 after an alarm was triggered. March 30 A vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Vine Hill Road and Hwy. 7 at 8:30 p.m., and police detected a strong odor of alcohol and burnt marijuana during conversations with the driver. The 21-year-old male from Minnetonka failed a battery of field sobriety tests, including registering a .14 during administration of a breathalyzer. Police discovered a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, which was impounded. The driver was booked into Hennepin County Jail and released. Minnetrista police arrested a 48-year-old woman last Thursday, March 28, after being called to the Klein Bank in St. Bonifacius on a report of attempted check forgery in progress. Arriving officers were told by bank employees that a woman identified as Susan Scharpen of St. Paul was attempting to cash a check from the City of Victoria for $1,982.60. According to the criminal complaint filed Tuesday and signed by Craig Squires of the Minnetrista Police Department, Scharpen told bank tellers the check was a payroll payment and needed to be cashed. Bank employees faxed a copy of the check to the City of Victoria and were told the check had not been issued by the city. Additionally, the check was “visibly different from the checks issued by …
