VIDEO: Minnetonka Skaters Present a 'Spectrum of Skating'

The annual skating extravaganza featured over 250 local skaters.

Minnetonka Ice Arena’s All Season Skating School presents the 39th Annual Silver Skates Ice Revue, “A Spectrum of Skating.” More than 250 skaters from Minnetonka and surrounding communities are featured again this year. The final show of the weekend is Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. General admission for each performance is $6, with free admission for children under 5. Senior citizens and individuals with special needs are granted free admission to the Saturday afternoon performance.  Summer skating lessons Interested in skating lessons? Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club Hosts Winter Extravaganza

Skaters from the region will entertain the audience with a four-hour exhibition.

Head to the Minnetonka Ice Arena on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. to enjoy a free figure skating exhibition, do some holiday shopping and make a difference by helping local children and families-in-need of warm winter clothing.   The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club (LMFSC) presents the 10th annual Winter Extravaganza which includes performances by individual and synchronized skating performances by award-winning, state and nationally-recognized competitors. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be served. In addition to the show, attendees are welcome to participate in the “Chuck-a-Puck” fundraiser and shop the silent auction with tickets to the Minnesota Wild, Guthrie Theatre and Metropolitan Ballet and items from local …

Skating Club Completes 5,100 Laps for a $5,000 Figure

The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club's first Skate-a-Thon raised funds for the Windjammer synchronized skating program.

The following is news from the Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club: Fifty-one skaters completed more than 5,100 laps to raise $5,000 for the Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club’s (LMFSC) Windjammer synchronized skating program on Friday, Sept. 21.   Club figure skaters, ranging in age from six to 55 years old, gathered at the Minnetonka Ice Arena to participate in the club’s first-ever Skate-A-Thon fundraiser. Skaters included members of the club’s four synchronized skating teams as well as individual adult, youth and coach participants. The goal for each participant was to skate 100 laps during the one-hour event and raise a minimum of $25 for the Skate-A-Thon. Synchronized Teams Skate Great in Duluth

Three teams come home with a first and two second places.

Three Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club synchronized skating teams did well recently at the Northland Invitational competition in Duluth. The beginner team took first place out of three teams. The open juvenile and pre-juvenile teams each placed second out of four teams.

Team of Skaters Finds Issue With 'Sparkly Item'

The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club reports results from last weekend's synchronized skating competition.

by Shawne Thiry I wish I had great news to share regarding the results of our synchronized skating teams at the Midwest & Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectionals last weened but unfortunately I don't. Our Intermediate team skaters experienced a fall due to a costume decoration that had fallen on the ice from a previous team's costume. Apparently the "sparkly item" on the ice was brought to someone's attention, but it wasn't investigated. Our girls took to the ice, began their performance and a skater hit it and the falls occurred. Unfortunately, one skater returned to Minnesota with crutches.   Our Juvenile team skated well, but the competition was tough and unfortunately, like several teams, became victim of a four-way tie. Big Weekend For Local Figure Skaters

The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club synchronized skating teams are on their way to skate at sectionals in Plymouth, MI.

By Shawne Thiry Local figure skaters are looking at a big weekend ahead.  The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club Windjammers Intermediate and Juvenile synchronized skating teams are headed to Plymouth, MI to compete in the 2012 Midwest & Pacific Synchronized Skating Sectionals this weekend. Thursday morning, the Juvenile team took time to create a photo album at the Lindbergh Terminal at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. The Intermediate team arrived in Detroit Wednesday night. In addition, this weekend the Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club has more than 20 individual skaters competing in the Northland Invitational skating competition in Duluth.
