Boston Marathon Explosions: Minnesota Runners and Residents Recount Experience, Share Updates

Two explosions occurred the afternoon of Monday, April 15, 2013 near the marathon finish line on Boylston Street in Boston, MA.

During the Boston Marathon April 15, two explosions occurred near the finish line—killing three and injuring more than 100 people, according to a report from Fenway-Kenmore Patch. Among the 23,000 runners at the annual race were approximately 500 Minnesota residents, according to StarTribune.com. Here is what some of the runners shared about the incident and their experience. Explosion, Fire Destroy Lakeshore Home

Nobody home or hurt, though family dogs were inside.

A fire and explosion consumed a Lake Minnetonka home Friday afternoon and, with it, two dogs belonging to the homeowners. Nobody was home at the time and nobody was hurt. Prateek and Sigrid Sahgal own the home, which they purchased in the fall of 2007 for $1.75 million. The property at 3944 Enchanted Dr. in Shorewood caught fire just after 2 p.m. Fire and emergency crews raced to the scene from more than a dozen neighboring cities, including units from Wayzata, Excelsior, Long Lake and Minnetrista. Initial reports indicated three people were inside the home, said Mound Fire Chief Greg Pederson, but firefighters confirmed otherwise shortly after arriving. I lost my house in Tonka Bay in 2006 and it is not a fun thing to go through at all. So sorry to hear the dogs did not make it out. My ins co was great but it is such a huge ordeal to go through that will consume the next year of your life. Wishing you all the best!   more ›
