Mound Man Arrested for Fifth DWI in 10 Months, Tries to Outrun Orono Cops
Police recognized David Anderson from a welfare check performed a few days prior, during which the criminal complaint says cops found him heavily intoxicated. Last week he tried to flee Orono police after a traffic stop on Shoreline Drive.
A 42-year-old Mound man was arrested last week and for the fifth time in less than a year has been charged with DUI. A motorist on Shoreline Drive called police just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, to report that a vehicle was swerving and operating erratically. A nearby squad responded to the call and found a car driven by a man later identified as David Anderson parked near the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Spates Avenue. The criminal complaint against Anderson, signed by investigator Dan Niccum of the Orono Police Department, alleges officers immediately detected the strong odor of alcohol during initial conversations with Anderson.
