Thursday's "Congress on Your Corner" event gave constituents a chance to speak with the Third District congressman about a wide range of issues.
Congressman Erik Paulsen hosted a “Congress on Your Corner” event at the Cub Foods in Chanhassan yesterday, where he spoke with about a dozen constituents from throughout the Third District about a broad range of federal issues. Kevin Crystal from Chanhassan came to speak with Paulsen about proposed gun control legislation, and to voice his opposition to any restriction of Second Amendments rights. “I told him I’m against gun control and encouraged him to vote against it, because it’s not effective,” Crystal said. Proposed gun control being advocated by President Barack Obama was a common thread among the conversations Paulsen had Thursday, and the third-term Republican congressman said he was unconvinced that further restricting gun laws …

U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen took to Twitter Monday morning to make clear he did not approve of a recent mailing sent out by a Republican candidate for State Senate. Connie Doepke is challenging GOP-endorsed David Osmek for the State Senate District 33 seat, and an Aug. 14 primary will determine who moves on to the general election in November to face DFLer Judy Rogosheske. The mailing in question contains a prominent photo of Doepke with Congressman Paulsen—accompanied by a quote that reads, "I wish I could have served with Connie in the Minnesota House, she's a great Representative and a proven leader." Paulsen, through his campaign manager, issued a statement via Twitter that read, in part, "I support the endorsed Republican candidate…

by U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen I spent last week in Washington, but was able to meet with neighbors and small business owners during one-on-one meetings, business tours, a “Congress on Your Corner” and a Telephone Town hall event the week prior. The underlying concern for Minnesotans I spoke with was how important it is to continue to push for pro-growth initiatives to restart our nation’s economic engine in order to get out-of-work Minnesotans off the sidelines and back to work. This week, I’m happy to report, the House of Representatives took another step forward in helping small businesses expand, grow and hire, with the passage of the Small Businesses Tax Cut Act. Here is the latest on that bill as well as an update from our nation…

Provisions include extending payroll tax cut and call for action on controversial oil pipeline.
by U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen This week, the House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act which will create an immediate 20,000 new jobs and help struggling Americans who are out of work. Here’s a summary of what the legislation contains: Extends 100 percent business expensing through 2012 to make it easier for job creators and small businesses to invest now in new machinery and equipment, grow their businesses and create jobs. The bill ensures a decision on the Keystone XL energy pipeline unless the President determines the project is not in the national interest. The project would create thousands of American jobs and increase America's energy security. Similar legislation has already …
