'Act of Kindness' Contest Kicks off in Memory of Sandy Hook Victim

The mother of Charlotte Bacon, one of the first-grade victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, is an Orono High School graduate.

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” That sentiment, a quote by Frederick Douglass, is the motivation behind an Act of Kindness Contest for Kids that has kicked off in memory of Charlotte Bacon, a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Charlotte's mother, JoAnn, is a native of Orono and graduate of Orono High School. Newtown, Conn., resident Jodie Adolfson contacted Lake Minnetonka Patch over the weekend to encourage residents to participate in the contest. Daughter of Orono High School Graduate Killed in Newtown Shooting

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced for Charlotte Bacon, whose mother is a graduate of Orono High School.

The daughter of an Orono High School graduate was among the 20 children killed last week in Newtown, Conn., when a gunman went on a rampage inside Sandy Hook Elementary School. Charlotte Bacon was the daughter of JoAnne (Hagen) Bacon and her husband Joel, according to an online memorial site established to assist the family.
