We've Got Blue, Yes We Do! Hilltop Primary School Celebrates Blue Ribbon Award

Hilltop was one of only seven Minnesota schools, and one of only 269 schools nationally, to receive the award this year.

By Becca Heistad  The gym at Hilltop Primary School was a sea of blue Nov. 9 as students, teachers, parents and community members celebrated the school's 2012 National Blue Ribbon award of academic excellence. Hilltop was one of only seven Minnesota schools, and one of only 269 schools nationally, to receive the award this year. Mound Westonka High School band members and cheerleaders ushered Hilltop students wearing bright blue T-shirts along a blue path and into the gym for a special Friday afternoon assembly. As a special treat, students were also greeted by the new White Hawks mascot as well as Super Grover, who had flown in from Sesame Street to join the celebration. Hilltop Primary School Receives Blue Ribbon Nomination

Westonka school is one of only eight in Minnesota to be nominated for this year's honor.

By Lorrie Ham Hilltop Primary School in the Westonka School District is one of only eight schools in the State of Minnesota to be nominated as a 2012 Blue Ribbon School. “Being nominated for a Blue Ribbon Award is a tremendous honor,” said Superintendent Kevin Borg. “This nomination is a testament to the hard work and abilities of both our students and staff. A special thank you also goes to our supportive parents.” According to the Minnesota Department of Education, the Blue Ribbon Schools Award is designed to bring public attention to the best schools in the United States and recognize those schools whose students thrived and excelled. “I am so proud of our students, staff and Hilltop community for being honored with this award,” said …
