Area residents are being invited to discover the unique world of horses this week at the Three Rivers Park District's Equine Center. This is the first time Three Rivers Park District will be offering the "Horsing Around" program, which runs from 9:30 a.m. until noon this Thursday, June 14, or Friday, June 15, at Baker Park Reserve just north of Lake Minnetonka. This program consists of instruction on the level of safety required while being around horses, how horses and humans interact, herd behavior and horse management. Participants will be given a tour of the Three Rivers Park District Public Safety Equine Center, meet and greet with the horses, learn how to properly groom a horse and take a short ride on a staff-led horse in one of our…

Try your hand at a Minnesota tradition with classes and workshops being offered by the Three Rivers Park District.
Local residents are being invited to taste the sweet sap of the maple tree and learn how syrup is made. Three Rivers Park District is offering a variety of maple syruping programs throughout the metro this spring, including a pair in the Lake Minnetonka area during the next week. Maple Syrup Festival at Baker This Sunday, March 18, from 2:30-5 p.m., at Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement in Baker Park Reserve, Medina. Bring the entire family for an afternoon of maple syruping. Guests will “tap a tree,” collect some sap, taste real maple syrup, boil down the sap, eat some silver dollar pancakes, discover Native American syruping techniques and much more. Creativity will be the name of the game at Baker Park Reserve camp sites.
Campers are being invited by the Three Rivers Park District to bring their lights, luminaries and flashlights to the Baker Park Reserve in Medina this weekend for a Festival of Lights celebration. Begining tonight and running through Sunday, Sept. 24, campers can decorate their sites for a chance to win prizes for creativity and color. Judging begins at dusk on Saturday. Family activities are scheduled from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday and include crafts, face painting, climbing wall, naturalist program and more. Camping fee plus $15 program fee applies with each campsite reservation at Baker Campground, located just north of Lake Minnetonka on County Road 19. Call 763-559-6700 to reserve campsites.

The Three Rivers Park District has dad in mind this weekend.
Treat dad to a special lunch of brats, burgers and outdoor adventure from 12-3 p.m. this Father’s Day at the Baker Park Reserve in Medina. After lunch, enjoy time with dad in the outdoors doing activities such as rock climbing, archery, nature programs and more. Lunch is at noon. The naturalist-led activity time period will be from 1-3 p.m. and, families will choose two of the activities.
