More than $200,000 has been raised at annual fundraiser to to maintain and improve the quality of education offered by Orono Public Schools.
Guests will be dressed to the nines this Saturday, April 13, for the Orono Alliance for Education's "A Night in Nantucket" banquet and fundraiser. The 2013 gala will take place at the BMW of Minnetonka in Wayzata, and tickets are on sale now. Visit the banquet's Facebook page for more. In 2000, the Orono Alliance for Education was founded to maintain and improve the quality of education offered by Orono Public Schools in a time of decreased funding from the state. Because of its small size, the district is not eligible for many state and federal grants available to larger school districts. In fact, its $613 per student funding is less than the state average. Over 150 boats dropped anchor in Cruiser’s Cove at Big Island on Friday, July 13, to watch the feature presentation "Anchorman" on a 40x60-foot inflatable movie screen sitting atop a floating barge. Attendance was lighter than in past years. Late afternoon rain and more storms in the forecast may have kept some people away, but those who came enjoyed a beautiful evening. Hammer Residences annual fundraiser benefits locals with special needs.
People from all over the Twin Cities will gather in Minnetonka tomorrow to help provide opportunities for adults and children with developmental disabilities. "This event will have live jazz music, nostalgic food and drinks created exclusively by SEVEN, over 100 silent auction items, a classic car show with vintage cars paired with retro fashion and a vintage photo shoot for our party-goers," said Bridget Ulrich, development and communication specialist with Wayzata-based Hammer Residences.
