Prominent Wayzata business leader and community member passed away Sunday at the age of 69.
Roger Alan Miller died May 13, 2012, at the age of 69. Born Aug. 19, 1942, Roger was preceded in death by wonderful parents, Ralph and Violet Miller of St. Paul, MN. Married his entire adult life to and survived by beloved wife, best friend and companion Lenore Christine Miller, loving children, Jennifer Miller Yokiel (Scott Yokiel) and their children Tivoli Violet and Kate Clementine and Heidi Christine Windmiller (Max Windmiller)—all of Wayzata. Roger is also survived by sister Carol Ekblad (Jerry Ekblad) of St. Paul, MN, and nephew Stephen Ekblad (Karen Ekblad) and children Blake Ekblad and Leah Ekblad of Lyons, CO, as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Survived by sons, Bob (Sharon) and John; grandchildren, Scott (Brenda), David (Ann), Suzanne, Troy (Kim), and Zachary (Lisa); great grandchildren, Erica, Wyatt, Nicholas, Claire, Christopher, Nathanial, Patrick, Andrew, Kate, Colin, Mathew, and Jack; former daughter-in-law, Judy, who visited Dorothy weekly. Preceded in death by husband, Ken; parents; seven sisters and one brother. Dorothy lived as a child in South Minneapolis, attended school and graduated form South High in 1927. She and husband Ken lived in several Twin City locations before settling on Lake Minnetonka near Mound where they lived until retirement. Maxine A. (Bjorklund) Slinden, 96 of Spring Park, died March 23, 2012. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Orwell, two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews, as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Maple Plain Community Church—located at 1815 Budd Avenue in Maple Plain, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Richard P. Dunnavan, age 88 of Deephaven, was born December 14, 1923. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Leslie Aksomitas (Mark), Mary Dunnavan (Roger Gross) and Susan Dunnavan (Terry O’Neill); six grandchildren, Erin Young (Corey), Kate and Andrew Gross, Paul, Ann and Kelly O’Neill. He is also survived by his brother Curt Dunnavan and sisters-in-law Ann Stevenson and Jean Haverstock (Jim). He graduated from Blake School, Dartmouth College and the Tuck School of Business. William O. McGowan, “Bill,” was born August 4, 1945. He passed away from complications after a life as a diabetic. Bill grew up in the Chicago area and went to Carl Sandburg High School. In 1967 he graduated from Ripon College, in Ripon,Wisconsin, with a major in economics. After college he worked in Madison, WI, Chicago, and Minneapolis. He had a long and happy working life with General Mills where he developed many extraordinary and long-lasting friendships. Bill loved being with his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking them and his friends on his boat on Lake Minnetonka. Steven “Tippy” Dye died peacefully February 22, 2012 with his beloved Patti by his side. Steven was born February 11, 1945 in Minneapolis. He graduated from Wayzata High School in 1963 and attended Mankato State College for a couple years. He retired from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office in 1998 after 29 years of service. Steven and Patti were married 42 years and felt so fortunate to have traveled the world seeing God’s beauty in landscapes and the people of different cultures. Steven had a strong faith in the Lord and is now with his parents in heaven. Steven battled many forms of cancer for many years, beginning at age 16.
