Westonka Students Receive $57K in Community Scholarships

MWHS seniors received a record number of community scholarships May 8.

By Lorrie Ham

At the 13th Annual Scholarship Awards Night on May 8, a total of 49 members of the MWHS graduating class received over $57,000 worth of local scholarship money from 35 different scholarship donors (including service organizations, businesses, families and school groups). Both the number of scholarship recipients and the dollar amount of the scholarships awarded represent the largest numbers to date.

"Again this year various individuals, as well as business, community, and school organizations invested in an outstanding group of seniors with a wide array of post-secondary goals,” Principal Keith Randklev said. “The class of 2013 received the highest amount of donations in the history of the scholarship night, and we are ever-so grateful for the generosity bestowed on our students and their families!"
