Lake Minnetonka Resident Recognized for Contributions to Area Seniors

Darwin Klockers receives Key Community Partner Award.

Tonka Bay resident Darwin Klockers was recognized last week for outstanding contributions to the senior population in the Lake Minnetonka community.

The cities of Albertville and St. Michael, along with Allina Healthcare and the Gillespie Center, were also presented with Key Community Partners Awards during a luncheon in Minnetonka.

Recipients were chosen by Senior Community Services (SCS), a nonprofit organization that since 1950 has provided innovative, community-based service programs to seniors and caregivers to help them remain independent.

“That longevity and our success are directly attributable to the partnerships we have with municipalities, corporations and the thousands of individual volunteers that help carry out our mission,” Benjamin Withhart, Executive Director and CEO of SCS, said. “The Key Community Partner Award honors those whose efforts have had a significant impact.”

Programs provided by SCS include providing support for home maintenance tasks, coordinating care services, Medicare counseling, development of senior centers, tour programs and a newly-launched program for seniors and caregivers called CareNextion that centralizes care via web-based portal.
