Blue Water Theatre Company of Wayzata has announced their second annual summer elementary school theatre camp for students currently in grades three, four and five (2012-2013 school year).
Following the successful and popular elementary school production of Disney's The Jungle Book in 2012, this year Blue Water Theatre Company has decided to produce Disney's Sleeping Beauty. The camp will tackle all elements of the production from the acting, singing and dancing to the creating of costumes, sets and props.
It's an excellent opportunity for young kids who are interested in theatre to get their feet wet in what is essentially a mini "real" production.
This year's camp will take place at Blue Water's studio in the lower level of the Wayzata Home Center (1250 E. Wayzata Boulevard) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. over two weeks: July 15-19 and July 22-26. A single, free, public performance of the show will take place at Wayzata Central Middle School (305 Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth) at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26.
Allison Scally, choir director at Wayzata Central Middle School and music director for Blue Water's 2012 production mainstage production of Annie, will be the lead director of the camp. Ms. Scally will be assisted by a number of high school and college students who are looking to have careers in theatre, music education or elsewhere in the performings arts field.
Space is limited to 30 young people.
