It was a great way to kick off summer vacation.
The Orono 11AA baseball team won the Burnsville Baseball Tournament June 8-10, beating all six teams that it faced—including Burnsville, St. Louis Park and Wayzata.
It wasn't easy.
"We had to come from behind in late innings of the semi-final game to win 7-6," said head coach Robb Hirschberg.
Orono advanced to the championship game against Prior Lake, winning 7-5.
"It was a big accomplishment," said third baseman Nick Simafranca. "We didn't have evil intentions, but I guess we had power." His family celebrated with root beer floats after the game.
