Updated: 4,000 Lose Power around Lake Minnetonka Tuesday Morning

The east side of the lake largely got power back; customers on the west side may have to wait until 3 p.m.

More than 4,000 electrical customers were without service Tuesday morning in cities around Lake Minnetonka as stormy weather swept through the area. 

At the west end of the lake, 1,148 households and businesses lost power at 7:44 a.m. That outage affected Mound, Minnetrista, Maple Plain, St. Bonifacius and Watertown. Xcel Energy's online outage map had estimated power would return by 10:34 a.m. As of 11 a.m., the estimate was 3 p.m.

Power was restored by 11 a.m. Tuesday morning in two large outages on the east side of the lake. 

In the Wayzata area, 1,327 customers lost power at 8:03 a.m. Police said power outages remain along the central business district in the area of County Road 101 and Wayzata Boulevard—to include all traffic lights in the area.

Residences and businesses in Wayzata, Minnetonka, Plymouth and Woodland. Xcel estimated service would be back there by 9:33 a.m. 

In another outage at the east end of the lake, 1,434 customers lost power at 8:19 a.m., according to Xcel's outage map. Affected communities include Orono, Long Lake, Plymouth, Wayzata and Minnetonka. For those residents and businesses, 10 a.m. was the estimated time for power to return.
