White Hawk Wrestlers Receive End of Season Awards

Wrestlers recognized for achievements on and off the mat.

The Mound Westonka/Holy Family wrestling squad held their end of the season banquet on Tuesday, Mar. 6 at the , commencing an excellent season. The White Hawks wrestlers posted an overall record of 19-8, with a 4-4 conference record.

“We had a great year and took another step towards achieving our goals as a program. Now we need to follow it up with an even better off-season,” said head coach Todd Munsterteiger.

Earning team awards for the White Hawks were: Cole Peterson, JV Wrestler of the Year; Ben Rogers, Hardest Worker; Bryan Tierney, Most Improved; Tyler Hebig and Sam Bennyhoff, Most Valuable Wrestlers; and Tyler Ihli, Coaches Award.

Senior Tyler Ihli was also recognized for a great season and career, in which he amassed 21 and 38 wins, respectively.

The five state entrants-Sam Bennyhoff, Tyler Hebig, Ryder Schmidt, Bryan Tierney, and Will Van Sant, were awarded certificates from the Minnesota State High School League. The White Hawks had four all-conference wrestlers: Sam Bennyhoff, Ben Rogers, Tyler Hebig, and Bryan Tierney; and four all-conference honorable mentions: Ryan Reid, Ryder Schmidt, Tyler Ihli, and Will Van Sant.

Along with several individual academic awards, the White Hawks wrestlers achieved top honors earning the Gold Award from the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association for a 3.53 team GPA.

The White Hawks wrestling coaching staff would like to thank all of the parents and members of the Mound Wrestling Organization (MWO) for all of their contributions throughout the year.

“We had an outstanding year and have built a solid program, and a lot of credit needs to go to this group of parents. They have done a tremendous job supporting their kids and contributing to the program,” said assistant coach Eric Rodelius.
