Wayzata Legion Narrowly Misses State Tournament
The Wayzata squad went 3-2 at the District 10 tournament over the weekend
The Wayzata American Legion baseball team narrowly missed a berth in the 2011 state tournament on Monday at the District 10 tournament.
Wayzata lost a 4-3 decision to Osseo on Monday at Wintercrest Fields in Coon Rapids. District 10 sends four teams to state this year, with Eden Prairie being an automatic host bid. Osseo secured the No. 1 seed by beating Wayzata, and Centennial picked up the No. 2 seed by beating Hopkins.
Hopkins earned the No. 3 seed by beating Wayzata 7-2 in a head-to-head matchup on Saturday in tournament play.

Wayzata opened up the tournament with a 6-1 win over Centennial on Thursday, and the squad followed it up with a 7-6, 10-inning win over Excelsior on Friday.
On Saturday, Wayzata fell to Hopkins 7-2, but the squad rebounded by beating Robbinsdale Cooper 14-4 on Sunday.

That set up the matchup with Osseo on Monday with a state berth on the line.
Wayzata finished the district tournament 3-2 overall.

Centennial vs. Bemidji, 10:30 a.m. Friday, Eden Prairie High School
Hopkins vs. Fergus Falls, 1 p.m. Friday, Eden Prairie Miller 8 Field
Eden Prairie vs. Maplewood Green, 1 p.m. Friday, Round Lake Stadium
