Wayzata Girls Cross Country Takes Third At State

Wayzata boys senior Josh Thorson won the Class AA boys individual crown

The Wayzata girls cross country team placed third on Saturday in the Class AA state championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

The Trojans finished with 140 total points, trailing state champion Monticello’s 93 points and Lakeville South’s 118 points. Shakopee took fourth at 168 points.

Freshman Anna French led the way for the Trojans with a 14:40.3 performance in the 4-kilometer race. Annika Halverson finished 14th at 14:54.6.

On the boys side, senior Josh Thorsen took first place individually in the Class AA meet. Thorsen finished the 5-kilometer race in 15:29.9, besting Rochester Mayo's Riley Macon's second place finish of 15:39.5.
