Update: Wayzata Headed To State Tennis Finals
The Trojans beat Mahtomedi 4-3, will face Rochester Mayo at 4 p.m. for the Class AA title
The Wayzata boys tennis team defeated Mahtomedi 4-3 on Wednesday in the Class AA state semifinals, setting up a state championship showdown with Rochester Mayo.
The Trojans will face the Spartans at 4 p.m. Thursday at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.
Should Wayzata win, it will be the Trojans’ first team title since winning the Class A crown in 1999.

Wayzata picked up wins from Nicholas Beaty and Conor Shook at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. In No. 2 doubles, Ketan Kukarni and Matt Halverson defeated Mahtomedi’s Kishore Damodaren and Ty Young 6-2, 6-4. Wayzata’s Michael Anderson and Evan Chen picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles, beating Teddy Bowie and Hardt Bergmann 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
