Several Area Teams Preparing For Transition To Postseason
Regular season ending this week for multiple squads from Wayzata, Orono and Mound-Westonka.
The seventh week of the spring sports season began on Monday, with several Lake Minnetonka area teams now preparing for the playoffs.
Wayzata Girls Golf: Burnham Medals, Trojans Win
Sarah Burnham's one-over-par score of 37 earned her medalist honors and led the Wayzata girls golf team to a 177-185 win over Hopkins at the Oak Ridge Country Club on Monday.

Wayzata Baseball: Edina 8, Trojans 5
An 8-5 loss to visiting Lake Conference rival Edina dropped the Wayzata baseball team to 4-9 overall and 3-7 in the circuit standings.

Each team had nine hits in the game, with Brandon Smith and Blake Hallenberg both netting two hits apiece for the Trojans as Jake Steinbach had a home run and three runs batted in. Starting pitcher Paul Voelker took the loss for Wayzata.
Wayzata Girls Lacrosse: Trojans 14, Hopkins 9
The Wayzata girls lacrosse team improved to 4-8 this season with a 14-9 defeat of visiting Hopkins on Monday.
Taylor Kramer scored five goals fir the Trojans with Amber Schwab contributing four goals to the winning tally.
Wayzata Boys Lacrosse: Benilde-St. Margaret's 13, Trojans 5
The Wayzata boys lacrosse team suffered a 13-5 loss to yet-undefeated state champion Benilde-St. Margaret's last Thursday to fall to 3-7 this spring.

A 6-4 win at Eden Prairie on Monday clinched sole possession of second place in the Lake for the Wayzata softball team.

Orono Softball: Spartans Win, Lose By Scores Of 5-4
The Orono softball team remained one-half game off the lead pace of Mound-Westonka in the Wright County standings by defeating Glencoe-Silver Lake, 5-4, last Friday, but then saw its three-game winning streak come to an end with a 5-4 loss to visiting non-conference rival Minnetonka on Monday.
Individual results were not available. The Spartans enter the final week of the regular season with a 12-4 overall record and an 11-3 conference mark with a trio of Wright County games left to play.
Orono Boys Tennis: Shakopee 4, Spartans 3
