Wayzata Football Joins New Class

State High School League Adds New 6A Class

The Wayzata football team will be moving up a class beginning in 2012 thanks to an approved Minnesota State High School League vote on Thursday.

The MSHSL board of directors approved a move to add a seventh football class effective in the 2012 season, according to the MSHSL website.

The move means football will have six 11-man football divisions listed as Class 1A-6A and a 9-man class.

The schools with the 32 largest enrollments will make up Class 6A. Wayzata High School’s enrollment is the largest in the state at 3,060, according to the MSHSL site.
