Postponements Spare Only A Few Local Teams

Wayzata, Orono lacrosse and Trojans girls golf are only squads to get their contests in on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With another round of postponements again plaguing local athletic squads, only a fraction of the schedule for Wayzata, Mound-Westonka and Orono was able to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wayzata Girls Golf: Burnham Leads Trojans To Runner-Up Finish At Alexandria Invitational

Sarah Burnham earned individual medalist honors as her four-over-par round of 76 led the Wayzata girls golf team to a second-place score of 342 at the Alexandria Invitational at the Alexandria Country Club on Wednesday.

The Trojans are scheduled to host Edina and Minnetonka, respectively, in Lake Conference dual meets at Wayzata Country Club on May 2 and 4.

Orono Girls Lacrosse: Totino-Grace 14, Spartans 9

A 14-9 loss to visiting Totino-Grace on Tuesday night dropped the Orono girls lacrosse team to 3-2 on the season.

Jordan Nielson, Shea Noerenberg and Catherine Fraser all scored twice for the Spartans in the game, with Eloise Hrusovsky, Haley Nielson and Sarah Prentice each netting one tally apiece.

On the season, Fraser leads Orono with 10 goals, while Noerenberg logging nine goals and five assists and Jordan Nielson putting up a team-high 15 points with eight goals and seven assists.

The Spartans are scheduled to host Chaska/Chanhassen at 7 p.m. Thursday and Maple Grove at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Wayzata Boys Lacrosse: Blake 19, Wayzata 4

The Wayzata boys lacrosse team dropped below the .500 mark at 2-3 following a 19-4 loss at Blake on Wednesday night. 

Eric Fong leads the Trojans with five goals and seven assists for 12 points total, with John Michael Coon logging nine points with five goals and four assists; Ryan Biek leads the team with seven goals.

Wayzata travels to Hopkins for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday night to close out the month of April.
