Hundreds of players and their families gathered inside Orono High School Saturday afternoon for the Orono Baseball Association's 2012 opening day ceremonies.
Practices have already started for most of the teams, and the first games are scheduled for this week, weather permitting.
KARE-11 Television's Eric Perkins, who lives in Orono and is involved in the Orono Baseball Association, spoke to the kids and filmed a segment scheduled to air on Saturday newscasts. He turned down an invitation to participate in a celebrity home run derby at Target Field to attend the festivities.
