Orono Sluggers are State Champs

11AA baseball team wins Gopher State tournament and will be introduced at upcoming Twins game

Orono 11-year-olds claimed the title of state champions at the Gopher State baseball tournament July 10 in Rogers.  Of the 36 teams playing in the sweltering heat, Orono emerged on top, beating Eastview 15-11 in the championship game.

The win earned them an appearance on Target Field during the Twins game on September 17.  Orono players will be introduced and each given a state championship ring.

After dousing Coach Keith Korsi with a cooler of ice water, the team headed to Red Rooster to celebrate.
