In Photos: Lake Minnetonka Teams Shine at Wednesday Relays

Metro area schools gather at Minnetonka track on Wednesday.

The Wayzata, Mound Westonka and Orono track and field teams competed Wednesday at the Rogness Relays in Minnetonka.

The Wayzata girls team finished second with 104 points, just behind Minnetonka’s 116 team points. Orono girls placed fifth with 41, while Mound Westonka came in seventh with 27.

On the boys side, Orono took second with 68 points, just behind Minnetonka’s 116. Mound Westonka came in fifth with 32 points.

The event honors longtime Minnetonka boys and girls track coach Bob Rogness, who coached the boys from 1964-72 and the girls from 1977-98. He is a member of the Minnesota Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame.

 Noteworthy performances include:

—The Wayzata girls 4x100 meter team took second place at 51.27, while the Trojans’ girls 4x200 meter relay team took second at 1:48.89

—Orono’s boys 4x800 meter relay team took third at 8:48.43

—Orono’s girls 4x800 meter relay team took second at 10:00.71

—Mound Westonka’s boys 1600 sprint medley took second at 3:46.94, and the White Hawks’ girls 1600 sprint medley took first at 4:20.43

—Orono’s 800 sprint medley team took second at 1:55.60

—Mound Westonka’s boys 4x400 meter relay team took second at 3:34.83

—Wayzata’s girls 4x400 medley relay took second at 4:06.30

—Orono took the top spot in the boys pole vault with a 13-foot, 4-inch leap

—Wayzata’s girls squad held the top two finishes in the girls shot put, the winning toss being 37 feet, 6 inches

—Wayzata’s girls squad took the top spot in the discus with a 114-foot, 7-inch toss
