Westonka High School's theater department will present its spring play “The K of D” this weekend. Performances are set for Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m.

“'The K of D’ is a dark comedy written by Laura Shellhardt,” explained Meagan Anderson, assistant director. “While we all had a lot of fun with the large, energetic show this past fall in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ we knew our students were now up to the challenge of taking on a more serious, dark piece for this spring’s play."

The show has a feel of a scary, spooky story being told around the campfire and follows the urban legend of a young girl, Charlotte, who, following her twin brother’s death, suddenly finds that everything she kisses ultimately dies. While the ‘K of D’ was originally written as a one-woman show, the students at Westonka High School have taken on the challenge of turning it into a show staffed by 15 students, each one taking on a unique character.”

"The K of D” will be the final show for senior Ashley Kershaw, who narrates the play.

Kershaw has received SpotLight Awards for Outstanding Performance for her work in Westonka's fall musicals the past two years. Also concluding their performance runs will be seniors Riley Peterson, who received an Honorable Mention SpotLight Award this past fall, and Katie Rasmussen, who returns for her second Spring Play.
