Wayzata School District Warned of Alleged Attempted Abduction

An alleged attempted abduction Wednesday afternoon near Greenwood Elementary School in Plymouth prompted the Wayzata School District to call its families to warn them of the incident on Thursday.

Today Wayzata School District sent out an automated call to all parents of students in the district to alert them to an alleged attempted child abduction that occured near  on Wednesday.

The automated call, text and email stated that, "After school yesterday, an adult male driving a white vehicle, possibly a van or full-size pickup truck with a large scratch on its rear passenger side and a ladder on top, approached a student on the way home from the bus stop. The adult male rolled down the passenger window and asked the student to help find his dog. The student immediately ran home and locked the door."

The student's parents notifed Plymouth Police, which took the student's statement. The incident is being investigated.

The district's message also said:

"Because the safety of all students is a top priority, we ask that you remind your children of the importance of avoiding strangers and of walking with a sibling or friend whenever possible."
