Wayzata School Board Filings Include Two Incumbents

After 19 years School Board Chair Pat Gleason will not to run for reelection, she told this to those gathered with the School Board Aug. 4.

Wayzata School Board Incumbents Linda Cohen and Jay Hesby are the only two who have filed so far for two of four open seats on the board.

At the Aug. 4 School Board Orientation Session Wayzata School Board Chair Patricia Gleason said she would not run for reelection. Terms for the seats of Gleason, Cohen, Hesby and Vice Chair Carter Peterson expire at the end of this year. Peterson had not filed for reelection as of Aug. 4.

Filing opened Aug. 2 and ends by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16. Anyone who files has until 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, to take themselves out of the running. The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8. The four spots are each a four-year term.

Candidate filing information packets and affidavits of candidacy are available from the office of the School District Clerk, at 210 County Rd. 101 N. in Wayzata. The filing fee for this office is $2.

A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more when assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from for 30 days before the general election and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office during the same primary or general election.

The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5 p.m. Aug. 16.
