Wayzata Central Student Wins Math Contest

Wayzata Central Middle School students finish first and fifth in state MathCounts contest.

First, third and fifth places were part of the math that counted for some local students this past weekend.

eighth grader Daniel Qu took first place at the March 24 state 2012 MathCounts competition at the Crowne Plaza in Plymouth.

The CMS MathCounts Team took third place and team member Jeffrey Lee placed fifth in the state.

Daniel and Jeffrey finished in the top 5 among 129 individuals.

Daniel has qualified for the National MathCounts Competition May 10-12 in Orlando, Fla. and Jeffrey will serve as an alternate for the State MathCounts Team.

Congratulations!!! For however much we all love our sports - its the kids that are achieving in math and science that will determine how competitive the United States will be against China, India, etc... 20 years from now.
