She is taking another principal position in the Eden Prairie School District 'with a heavy heart.'

Ann Swanson is leaving her job as principal of Shirley Hills Primary School in Mound (Westonka School District), according to a letter she wrote Thursday:

April 18, 2013

Dear Shirley Hills Families,

I am writing to inform you that I have accepted another principal position in the Eden Prairie School District for the 2013–2014 school year.  I am very excited about this opportunity but also leave Westonka with a heavy heart. I have been at Shirley Hills for the past seven years and feel such a strong sense of belonging to this community. I truly love working with our students, families, and staff.

Over the years, we have been through many changes, we have learned together, and we have also had a lot of fun. I am extremely proud of this school and all that has been accomplished in my time here.  I am confident that Shirley Hills and Westonka will continue to celebrate great points of success thanks to the collective efforts of our exceptional students, staff, and community.

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have had the opportunity to work with all of you. Thank you for all that you do to make Shirley Hills such a wonderful place. Thank you also for the support you have shown me and for sharing your children with me.

With a Caring Heart,

Mrs. Swanson
