Photos: Wayzata Boys Hockey Team Beats Maple Grove in Turkey Trot Tournament

The Trojan varsity team won 4-1 Nov. 23, 2012, but ended up losing the title game to Edina.

After coming off a state tournament run last year, the Maple Grove Senior High boys hockey team lost one of their first games of the season Friday, Nov. 23 with a 4-1 loss against Wayzata High School. The Crimson faced the Trojans in the annual Wayzata Turkey Trot tournament.

For Wayzata, each of the four goals was a varsity career first for freshman Max Zimmer, juniors Chad Olson and Chandler Linstrand and sophomore Matthew Freytag, according to the Star Tribune. Sophomore Joe Norenberg scored the only goal for the Crimson.

The next game for the Crimson is against Edina 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 2012 at the Maple Grove Community Center Wayzata will take on Rosemount 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at Rosemount, according to the Minnesota State High School League website.

Wayzata High School advanced to, but lost, the title game of the Turkey Trot Tournament against Edina High School.
