Orono 'Winterfest' Features Packed Slate of Events

If you can't escape it, then celebrate it.

Orono High School will celebrate Winterfest this week with a full schedule of theme days and special events.

This year's Orono Elementary PTO Fun Fest will be themed "Stars of Orono" and takes place Saturday, Feb. 4, at Orono Middle School.

Below is a schedule of theme days and events: 

  • Monday, Jan. 30 
    Theme: Come As You Are Day 

  • Tuesday, Jan. 31 
    Theme: Tacky Tourist/Nerd Day 
    Event: Coronation, 1:55 p.m., OHS gymnasium; free admission 

  • Wednesday, Feb. 1 
    Theme: Twin/Dress As Your Favorite Teacher Day 
    Event: Best Variety Show, 8:35-9:15 a.m., Fenholt Auditorium. $1 admission 

  • Thursday, Feb. 2 
    Theme: Neon Nineties Day 

  • Friday, Feb. 3 
    Theme: Class Colors Day 
    Event: Class Competition, 8:35-9:15 a.m., OHS gymnasium; $1 admission 
    Event: Winterfest Dance, 9-11:30 p.m., OHS gymnasium; $5 admission (Semiformal attire; students should plan pictures and dinner so they can arrive at the dance before 10:15 p.m.
  • On Saturday, Feb. 4, the PTO Fun Fest will feature a medallion hunt beginning promptly at 11:45 a.m. Children in grades K-5 are invited to participate. The fun continues from noon to 4 p.m. with a silent auction, community raffle tickets sale, fun carnival games, bake sale, food and, new this year, a photo booth.

    Proceeds will be used to support instructional programs, such as providing student access to technology, Art Adventure and field trips at Orono Schumann Elementary and Orono Intermediate School. 

    Admission is free and the public is welcome.
