Orono School District Seeks Nominations for Distinguished Alumni Award

The areas considered by the selection committee include: excellence in the nominee's chosen field; community service, outstanding local or global contributions; commitment to lifelong learning; success in the arts; athletic accomplishments; recognition/

Nominations for the 17th annual Orono High School Distinguished Alumni Award are now open. To be eligible, nominees must have graduated from Orono High School at least 15 years ago.

Anyone can submit a nomination. Nominations should include the nominee’s name, address, telephone number, year of graduation and a description of contributions that make him/her deserving of this recognition.

The areas considered by the selection committee include: excellence in the nominee’s chosen field; community service, outstanding local or global contributions; commitment to lifelong learning; success in the arts; athletic accomplishments; recognition/honors/awards; and leadership. Nominations must cover at least two of the seven criteria.  

Nominations forms are available at any district office or can be completed online from the district’s web site:  www.orono.k12.mn.us

Previous honorees of this award are:  Marvin Johnson, Maple Plain (1953); Bruce Willis, Plymouth (1958); Heidi Hofmann Hoover, Eagan (1974); Kelly Shaughnessy, Long Lake (1972); Kristi Jensen Pierro, Plymouth (1975); Cliff Otten, Maple Plain (1966); John Shannon Jr., Orono (1971); Dr. Joan Lane, Massachusetts (1982); Jerry Rockvam, Spring Park (1957); Catharine MacKinnon, Michigan (1964); Jim Franklin (1965); Dave McKown (1955); Jack Veach (1977); and T.J. Haislet (1973); Dr. Traci Toomey (1984); and Lowell Seashore (1968).
