Orono High School Teacher Honored with DECA's Life Member Award

Keith Jurek and 34 OHS students head to the international conference April 27 in Salt Lake City.

The Minnesota chapter of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) has honored Orono High School teacher and DECA adviser Keith Jurek with a 2012 Honorary Life Member Award.

The award was presented during the DECA State Career Development Conference in Minneapolis late last month. Given annually to individuals who have supported DECA and marketing education, the Honorary Life Member Award recognizes those who have given a minimum of seven years of service or who have left the program but continued to support Minnesota DECA.

Orono’s DECA program, affectionately known as the "DECA Dawgs," has expanded to become a leader in state, national and international competition under Jurek’s leadership.
