Orono High School Students Receive Scholastic Art Awards

Ozzie Secundino and Piper Cashman will have their work displayed at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Two Orono High School students have been honored in the 2011-12 Minnesota Scholastic Art Exhibition sponsored by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD).

Senior Ozzie Secundino received a Silver Key Award for his print, “El Nativo En Mi.” He also received Honorable Mention Awards for two other prints, “Baja La Luna Sangrando” and “El Castigo.”

Junior Piper Cashman received an Honorable Mention Award for her mixed media painting, “”Breakout,” part of which was created from recycled materials found at the high school.

Of the 1,376 individual artwork entries, the jury awarded 133 Gold Key Awards, 167 Silver Key Awards and 228 Honorable Mention Awards.

Entries receiving Gold Keys or Silver Keys are on display in the Concourse Gallery at MCAD on Stephens Avenue in Minneapolis. The exhibition is free and open to the public daily through Feb. 26.
