Jodie Rasicot, a kindergarten teacher at Shirley Hills Primary School, has been named the Lord Fletcher’s December Feature Teacher.

Raiscot graduated with a BA in Business from the University of Iowa. She worked for the A.C. Nielson Company in Chicago right out of college. Then she settled in Mound where she raised her daughter, Jamie.

“I’m very proud of the education Jamie got here at Mound Westonka,” said Raiscot.

While Jamie, now a student at Mankato State, was at Grandview Middle School, Raiscot started substitute teaching. She decided to go back to school and get her teaching degree from Crown College. While going to school, Raiscot worked at Grandview as a paraprofessional in Mr. Rodelius and Mrs. Bonier’s classrooms.

“I knew then that this was the job for me,” Raiscot said. “I love teaching and finding out what each student needs.  Each student is special to me and I try each day to let them know it.”

“Jodie is a creative, fun, and kind teacher at Shirley Hills,” said Principal Ann Swanson. “And she sure looks great as a Snow White!  She teaches two half day classes so she spends a lot of time building relationships with students and parents. She falls in love with each of her students.”

Raiscot has taught kindergarten at Shirley Hills for four years. This spring she will start her Masters Program from Concordia University.

“I want to thank my co-workers at Shirley Hills for giving me this honor,” Raiscot said. “I work with a great bunch of people. Life is good!”

Each Feature Teacher winner receives a certificate for a brunch for two at Lord Fletcher’s.
