Meet the Winner of Lake Minnetonka Magazine's 'Best Teacher of 2012'

Mound Westonka H.S. teacher earns honors at Lake Minnetonka Magazine's annual banquet.

Lake Minnetonka Magazine revealed winners of its annual Best of 2012 contest at last week.

The finalists in the Best High School Teacher category included English teacher Corey Bulman, Minnetonka High School's Sonja Saunders and Lori Wooley from .

Mound Westonka principal Keith Randklev joined Mr. Bulman and his wife, Mimi, as he accepted the award.

"Corey models everything a great teacher should be: passionate, engaged, caring, approachable, interesting and interested," Randklev said. "His students' success speaks volumes about his teaching style. Their praise and the respect of his fellow staff members are what won him this award against much larger school districts."

“Our Best of Lake Minnetonka awards are an annual readers' survey we do in the beginning of each year,” explained LMM Editor Molly Broman. “By being a finalist, Corey was one of the top-three vote getters out of a total of 145 teachers who were nominated. That's a huge honor.”

Bulman earned both his BA and his Master’s degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. He has worked at Westonka for 12 years, teaching English 9, Honors American Literature (11th) and Advanced Placement Literature (12th).
