Jeremy Nelson, 18, of Excelsior has been named as one of five finalists in the No Name Original Kid of the Year contest.
Finalists were selected from a pool of essays submitted to No Name Premium Meat & Seafood by parents and teachers describing each nominee’s school performance, community service and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Nelson attends . In his nomination letter, Nelson was described as a leader among his peers, captaining the school’s Quiz Bowl and Knowledge Bowl teams, and serving in leadership positions at La Conexión, the Mexican Consulate, and the Minnesota Youth Council. He is a national merit finalist and also a member of the school debate, Nordic ski, track and cross country teams.
Each finalist won four suite tickets to the April 29, 2012 Minnesota Twins home game versus the Kansas City Royals. At that time, one finalist will be selected at random as the grand prize winner and will be named the No Name Original Kid of the Year. The grand prize winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship prize, a $1,000 donation to his or her school and a year’s supply of No Name products. The four other finalists will each receive a $1,000 scholarship prize and a $1,000 donation to their school.
